AI Horizon Fixer user guide
AI Horizon Fixer is a plugin for Adobe Premiere. Install it as an extension to straighten tilted video with AI, fine-tune the angle manually, or add rotation keyframes when the horizon changes during a shot.
Install and open
Install the extension through Adobe Exchange or the Creative Cloud desktop app. See the listing for current pricing and purchase details. Requires Adobe Premiere 25.6.5 or later (Premiere Pro 25.6.5+).
In Premiere, choose Window > Extensions > AI Horizon Fixer to open the panel. Open your project and the sequence you want to edit.
Your first correction
- Place the playhead over the video you want to straighten and open At playhead in the panel.
- Leave Add keyframe unchecked to apply one correction to the whole clip.
- Keep Auto-fill edges enabled to cover empty corners exposed by rotation. This zooms in and crops the edges.
- Click Straighten with AI. If prompted to replace existing animation, review the warning before continuing.
- Check the result in Premiere's Program Monitor and play through the clip.
The correction is based on the frame at the playhead. If the camera tilt changes during the shot, add keyframes at the points that need a different angle.

Choose the right mode
| Mode | What it corrects | Frame used for AI analysis |
|---|---|---|
| At playhead | The visible video at the playhead | The current frame |
| Auto | A changing horizon across one clip | Samples throughout the trimmed clip |
| Selected clips | One or more selected timeline videos | Each clip's first included frame, after trimming |
At playhead uses the video at that position, independently of your timeline selection. Use Selected clips when you want to work on a specific selection.
Correct selected clips
- Select the videos in your timeline.
- Open Selected clips and check the selection count.
- Leave Add keyframe off for a whole-clip correction, or enable it to add a correction key at each clip's first included frame.
- Click Straighten with AI.
Clips are processed one at a time. Expand Clip details to review the results and any skipped or failed clips. Linked audio is not analyzed.
Keep your selection unchanged while processing. Cancel stops pending work; corrections already applied remain in place. Each corrected clip has its own Premiere Undo step.

Add or update a correction keyframe
In At playhead, move to the frame you want to correct, enable Add keyframe, and click Apply AI keyframe. Move to another point and repeat as needed.
A correction adds a Rotation keyframe or updates the existing key at that time. Other Rotation keyframes are preserved. New keys use Linear interpolation, so check the movement between them in the Program Monitor.
With only one keyframe, the correction stays constant across the clip. In Selected clips, AI keyframes are placed at each clip's first included frame. Use At playhead for corrections later in a clip.
Choose Zoom Off to preserve Scale and its animation. Constant and Dynamic can replace Scale animation after confirmation; see Choose zoom and framing.
Auto-keyframe a changing horizon
- Select exactly one video clip in the timeline, open Auto, and check the target clip.
- Set Analyze every N frames. The interval is measured in frames, not seconds. The default is 60; lower values analyze more frames and can take longer. The first and last included frames are sampled as well.
- Choose Smoothing: Off, Low, Medium or High. More smoothing can reduce small changes, but may soften intentional or rapid movement. Check the result rather than assuming the strongest setting is best.
- Choose Zoom Off, Constant or Dynamic. Review the framing guidance below.
- Click AI auto-keyframe. If prompted, review the replacement warning before continuing. Auto applies Rotation keyframes directly after analysis; there is no separate results approval step.
- Play through the full shot in Premiere, checking the horizon, motion between samples and crop. Use Adjust at playhead for a local manual correction, or Premiere Undo to reverse the applied operation.
Auto replaces the clip's Rotation animation. With Constant or Dynamic zoom, Scale animation can also be replaced. A later Auto run can replace your manual repairs, so read the confirmation before rerunning.
Review any skipped samples in the result. A curve made from successful samples can bridge a failed sample; it is not evidence that the missing frame was analyzed. Use the offered retry for skipped samples when available, and inspect those times yourself. Cancel stops pending processing; review the reported outcome before starting again.

Browser demonstration with fixture data; no connected Premiere edits or camera-specific correction results are shown.
Rotate manually in Preview
- Expand Preview / Manual Rotation. In Selected clips, select just one video to use the manual preview.
- Drag the image around its center to rotate it. Hold Shift for finer adjustment.
- Switch between Grid, Line and Guides off to choose your alignment reference.
- Click Apply, or Apply key when Add keyframe is enabled. Cancel discards the draft.
For keyboard control, focus the preview and use the arrow keys. Left or Up rotates counterclockwise; Right or Down rotates clockwise. Each step is 0.1 degrees, or 0.01 degrees with Shift held.
Dragging changes the preview only. The timeline changes when you apply the draft. The preview is a captured still, so check the final crop and framing in Premiere's Program Monitor.

Choose zoom and framing
Rotation can expose empty corners. Auto-fill edges adjusts Scale to cover them. Turn it off to keep Scale unchanged and adjust the framing yourself in Premiere.
In Advanced, Preserve existing framing keeps your current framing as a starting point. Minimum fill aims to cover the frame with less crop, where supported.
For Auto and point keyframes, Zoom Off leaves Scale and its animation unchanged. Constant uses one automatic Scale for the clip. Dynamic changes Scale with the correction, which can make the crop move. Non-Off policies can replace existing Scale animation after confirmation.
Automatic keyframe framing requires supported centered, uniform geometry. Turn off Premiere's Scale to Frame Size for these modes; readable Motion Scale Fit/Fill is supported. If the clip cannot use automatic framing, choose Off and frame it manually. Always review the full shot, especially when the angle changes over time.
Existing animation, Reset and Undo
A whole-clip correction can replace existing Rotation animation. If Scale is affected, the confirmation also explains which Scale keyframes will be replaced. Choose Cancel to keep the existing edit.
Reset rotation & scale sets Rotation to 0 degrees and Scale to 100%, removing all keyframes on those two properties. This includes keyframes created outside the extension. Reset requires confirmation and does not restore the state from before AI correction.
Use Premiere's Undo to reverse an applied edit. For a batch, undo once for each corrected clip.
Restore setting defaults resets panel preferences only. It does not change your clips.
Processing and privacy
The included neural network uses artificial intelligence to estimate camera roll from image content. AI frame analysis runs locally on your computer. Your footage is not uploaded to a cloud AI service for analysis.
Processing uses the GPU when available and falls back to the CPU. You can also choose CPU in the processing settings. Manual rotation does not require AI analysis.
Limitations and troubleshooting
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| No clip found or action unavailable | Open an active sequence and place the playhead inside an enabled video clip, or check your timeline selection. |
| Overlays affect the result | Hide overlapping videos or adjustment layers so the captured frame represents the clip you want to correct. |
| Preview unavailable | Wait for the frame to load, then use Refresh preview or Retry frame. |
| Empty corners or too much crop | Check Auto-fill edges and review Scale in Premiere's Motion controls. If automatic framing is unavailable, adjust Scale manually. |
| A batch stops partway through | Open Clip details and review the completed clips before starting again. |
| The suggested angle looks wrong | Use Manual Rotation to align the shot with the guides and your intended composition. |
AI estimates can be wrong, especially when a scene has few clear alignment cues or the camera roll is intentional. Review each result. Horizon correction adjusts rotation and framing; it does not remove camera shake or correct perspective distortion.
